Home Is Where The Heart Is

Friday, December 16th, 2005

I’m finally home in Seremban! Well, it’s kinda late for me to be saying that since I arrived from Singapore last Tuesday, but I haven’t been in the mood to update my blog. I managed to meet up with Chuckie in Singapore and it was really good to see her again. She seems really well.

Today, I went out with Josephine for a light meal and followed her around when she was doing  some Christmas shopping, which was quite amusing since her family had already ‘placed their orders’. =P It was great to talk to her and we kinda bumped into Dinisa when we were at Secret Recipe in Jusco S2. Turns out she’s working part time there. I’m hoping to meet up with most of my friends next week. Christine has been and will be pretty busy these couple of days, so I probably won’t bother her that much eh.

My Mum, sister and I watched The Chronicles Of Narnia yesterday and it was a pretty good movie! I enjoyed it, although my brother actually said it was the first movie he watched that made him want to leave the cinema halfway through. =P Maybe it’s a guy thing? XD

I’m adjusting well to the weather (or so I think! =P) but apparently the weather back in Christchurch is getting warmer and warmer! I suppose I’m quite relieved that I won’t be there for summer since it’s probably gonna be hotter there. It must be kinda weird celebrating Christmas in summer, but then again, most Kiwis have never experienced a white Christmas before, I guess!

Tomorrow, my dad is planning on bringing us out for a BBQ at Royal Adelphi. Hope it’s not gonna disappoint! Laterz.

Singapore, baby!

Sunday, December 11th, 2005

I’m now in Singapore! Our flight from Christchurch was good and fortunately, uneventful! There were a few nice movies to watch on the plane, but I’m actually quite tired of flying since I’ve taken so many flights already. My initial thrill is quickly being replaced by boredom and grumpiness! =P

It was awesome to see my family again, especially my bro whom my sister and I had not seen in almost a year. He still looks pretty much the same… =P

We won’t be staying long in Singapore and have decided to leave for Malaysia tomorrow instead of on Wednesday. I’ll be dropping Chuckie a line after this; she’s studying here and won’t be going home for the Christmas holidays! That’s a shame, cuz it would have been great for the old gang to meet up and hang out again.

It’s great to be home! Well… almost home anyway… =P. Laterz.

12 hours to go

Saturday, December 10th, 2005

12 more hours til my flight to Singapore! I’m really looking forward to that. We’ll be arriving at Changi Airport at about 7.45PM and my family will be meeting us there. I’m sure my sister is very excited about finally going home. She has been kinda homesick lately. We’ll be spending 3 days in Singapore so I guess we’ll be back in Seremban by Wednesday or maybe Thursday! Can’t wait to see dear old Kaiser again. We got him a large raw-hide bone and a few snacks as a Christmas present… =P It was my sister’s idea.

Yesterday was Junior prize giving and it was nice to play in the orchestra for one final time. It was awesome seeing Soon Yie go up to get her prizes as well! It’s a good start for her, and I’m really pleased about it. I managed to see most of my teachers before I left and I know I’m going to miss all of them dearly! Still, I’ll be around next year and will probably pop in for a visit sometime. Plus, Soon Yie will be there too, so that’s not so bad either, I guess!

I had my last scholarship exam today, Calculus. It was horrible, as I’d predicted, but I’m not really worried about it anyway. At least I managed to answer a few questions… =P But it’s great to finally be able to relax and not have the nagging thought that I should be studying at the back of my head! Overall, I think Physics was the best scholarship paper I had… =P I know Ms. Powell, my Physics teacher, would be delighted to hear that! =D

Margaret, my flatmate, brought us out for tea last night. She also gave us our Christmas presents! We told her she didn’t have to get us anything, but she went on and bought us stuff anyway. She’s such an awesome person; I don’t know what we’ll ever do without her! She got Soon Yie a set of the  LoTR action figures and Soon Yie was just over the moon! She’s been crazy over LoTR recently. I got a book; it was something I had wanted for a while but decided to maybe get it from Malaysia since it’ll be cheaper, but it was really thoughtful of Margaret to buy it for me. The book’s The Girl In Times Square by Paullina Simons and I had started reading it in the school library and found it quite interesting. Well, at least I’ll have something to do on the plane, then!

It’s kinda late so I better get some sleep. Can’t wait to be back! ^_^

3 more days!

Wednesday, December 7th, 2005

Last night was graduation and it rocked!! It was awesome; everyone had a fun time and it was really great to talk to the friends you don’t see a lot in school and hang around! Definitely one of the best nights in my life! The actual graduation ceremony where they presented us with certificates and stuff was boring at times but the speeches made by some of my friends were really entertaining. It’s nice to hear some of their school memories from their 5 years at Avonside. =)

But dinner after graduation was definitely the highlight of the evening! We got to talk to most of the teachers and I’m really just amazed at how close we have all become. It’s rather sad leaving high school and the friends and teachers but people are always saying life is full of new beginnings eh!

I had Scholarship Physics this morning and it was actually alright, compared to Chemistry yesterday. I spent like 15-20 minutes on the first question but finally got it, so that was a relief… =P Tomorrow is Junior Prize-Giving and I’m looking forward to seeing Soon Yie get her prizes. Good on her!

As I’ve said in the last post, we’ll be flying off to Singapore this Sunday. I’ll have to start packing soon. Can’t wait to be home!

Sweet!

Tuesday, December 6th, 2005

I’m utterly delighted! I just called the Singapore Airlines office and was told that our seats for a flight to Singapore this Sunday has been confirmed! Awesome!

I just had Scholarship Chemistry this morning and it was YUCKY. Downright annoying and horrible! Even the chemistry teachers were wondering whether they themselves could do it when they saw some of the weird questions in there! It’s not a nice feeling walking out from an exam that you know you didn’t ace, but I guess something to look forward to is Graduation this evening! We’ll be going out for dinner, the whole seventh form and teachers and hopefully things don’t go out of hand cuz apparently, if we’re 18, we’re allowed to have some drinks from the bar… and Kiwis + alcohol = chaos (usually! =P)

I’ve still got Scholarship Physics tomorrow, then Calculus on Saturday. Not looking forward to any of them! On the other hand, I guess it’ll be great to get everything over and done with.

The names of the prize winners for the junior students were announced today, and Soon Yie got 2 prizes for Hard Materials and Music! Good on her! Awesome work indeed… It’s great that she’s enjoying herself here, but it’s even better that she’s rewarded for her hard work over the year. I know she can be lazy at times but I guess in the end, she’s really not that bad after all. Well, it’s great that she got those prizes… Hopefully it’ll be a major boost to her confidence!

Not much to write, I guess. =D Can’t wait for Sunday!

Turning Up The Heat!

Sunday, December 4th, 2005

It’s such a hot day today! I must admit although the humidity in Malaysia can be yucky at times, I actually think I’m more comfortable in a hot and humid place than hot and dry! >_<

Just came back from orchestra practice in school. Soon Yie joined us as well, and apparently she’ll be performing an extract from the Forrest Gump Suite during the Junior Prize Giving! That is awesome! Her music teacher wanted her to play the whole song but she kept saying her tempo was horrible. I wish she was more confident, but it’s a big step anyway, performing in front of an audience, so good for her! =D

In response to your question, Christine, we’re actually going to sing the whole song (minus that killing part… =P) with a piano, guitar and drums accompaniment. I think we’re supposed to learn the song by heart… but what the hell, I’ve got better things to do with my time! XD

I’ve been really slacking lately and it’s awesome to relax for a change! I baked muffins twice; baking is so much fun! Even though things come out horribly wrong most of the time… =P I have been playing some video games as well; Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time! OMG, Christine, it’s such an awesome game… I finished it last night and the storyline was fantastic!! The third one is already out, you know! 0_0 (I tried playing the second one but there were just too many glitches eh!)

Tomorrow, I have to return all my textbooks to school and we’re gonna have our last practice, singing Bohemian Rhapsody… UGH! Graduation is in 2 days’ time, though, so maybe that’s something I could look forward to? =P

My sister and I are supposed to be leaving this Sunday and our seats are still not confirmed! Damn… Hope things turn out ok! Laterz.
