Conquered!

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

My exams are finally over!! ^_^ Well, technically, I’ve still got 3 more papers, but they’re just scholarship ones and aren’t really that important. I’ve already got a tertiary scholarship from the school PTA which covers a large portion of my first year fees at Uni, so I’m not gonna study hardout for those scholarship papers… =D

It’s great to finally be able to relax after a few hectic weeks. My last paper was Physics and ARGH!! I get so mad thinking about it! I thought it was on gonna be on Wednesday, but it turned out to be on Tuesday instead so I had to really cram! It definitely wasn’t my best paper… probably 2nd worst after Chemistry! =( I’m quite disappointed and annoyed at myself for not doing as much work as I should have, for the exam, but I guess there’s no point beating myself over it now, eh? I’m glad everything’s over and I really can’t wait to go home again.

Graduation is next Wednesday! We’re supposed to practise singing Bohemian Rhapsody the day before and I hope everything goes well! I really dislike that song and can’t think who would have come up with it. We’re not gonna sing the part about the guy pulling the trigger and killing the man, though… =P

Junior Prize Giving is next Friday, the last day of school for all secondary schools, and my sister seems absolutely sure that she won’t be getting a prize, but I think other wise. She’s not that bad and I know she did really well in Music this term, so there’s actually a chance that she’ll be getting a prize (or maybe a number of prizes! =D)! We will both be playing in the orchestra and apparently, they’ve been doing Summer Holiday by Cliff Richard for a few years now. The teacher in charge of the orchestra, who’s also our conductor, doesn’t seem very passionate about the song but I reckon it sounds really nice eh! It’s quite an appropriate song anyway. =)

Dad is still trying to get us tickets for the 11th of December but things aren’t looking promising now. I guess it wouldn’t really matter if we go home a few days or maybe a week later (it’ll actually give us more time to pack, hehe).

I really can’t wait to be back!^_^

Halfway down the road…

I’m already halfway through my exams and I can’t wait to go back home! My dad is currently trying to get us on the December 11th flight but we’re still on the waiting list. I can’t wait to see my family and friends again, and dear old Kaiser! =D Things have been crazy these few days; I’ve been cramming for my Chemistry and Statistics papers… Chemistry was downright horrible! >_< I wish I had more time, but doing 5 papers in 3 hours can be kinda hectic eh! But Statistics went surprisingly well; it’s actually my best paper. I’ve got Physics coming up on Wednesday, and then 3 more Scholarship papers to do, but I guess I’m not very worried about them since they’re not as important as my other exams.

Graduation is coming up in about 2 weeks’ time. Hopefully, it’s gonna be fun, but I’m not loooking forward to the singing we’ve to do! >_< Apparently, all seven-formers have to sing a song during graduation, and a smart aleck came up with Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen! Grr, it’s such a yucky song to sing (except for this one verse… =P) and according to the music teacher, it was chosen democratically but my friends and I don’t recall voting or anything eh! Oh well… =P

I’m slacking a little bit, but I guess I better start studying some Physics. =D I really can’t wait for the holidays! Laterz.

The end of an era?

Last Thursday was my last day of High School and it was sad but exciting! I can’t believe how much I’ve changed my outlook on things since I first came to NZ almost 3 years ago, but I’ve learnt so much and things have just been really good. School is awesome and the teachers and my friends are just amazing! Uni next year is gonna be scary, but it’s great to know I’ll be taking along with me the many wonderful things Avonside has given me! =D

I’m very pleased with myself as well because we had our senior prize-giving last Wednesday and I got a couple of prizes, and then they announced that I was Dux of the school!! OMG, that had to be my proudest and happiest moment in my life! Everyone was just screaming and cheering and it was downright scary to go up on the stage to a standing ovation and I know I was shaking like mad! I was really really pleased about that and I didn’t expect the reaction everyone had cause things were just crazy then!! But apparently, Dux is really a big thing here and the next day I was congratulated by heaps of people, even by students I didn’t know. It’s just great how the people here seem very supportive. I was even interviewed by the school editor and had my picture taken to be in the school magazine! =D All in all, I really am delighted of my achievement, cause I know I worked/struggled/slaved really hard for it and it’s just nice to have my efforts recognised. I only wished my parents could have been here with me.

National Exams are starting this coming week and although I’m a little sick of studying, I know I really have to do well the exams since I need the credits for University Entrance. But looking on the bright side, I’ve got Graduation to look forward to after the exams!! That’s gonna be really fun, I’m sure. It’s kinda sad to be leaving school after 3 years, but I guess it will be harder for the other Kiwi girls who have been there longer than I have; 5 years!

Things are a little hectic now so maybe I better go. Laterz. =D
