Of Lost Baggage… AGAIN…

December 5th, 2007 by soonkhielow

I’m finally back in Seremban after a whole day of travelling! ^_^ Yay for that. The flights from Christchurch to KL were so tiring cuz we had to make stops at Sydney, Adelaide and Singapore. The Adelaide stop came as a big surprise cuz nobody told us about it when we bought our tickets! UGH! We were flying with Qantas and I swear, they can be fking useless sometimes. Another annoying thing was our check-in luggage; they didn’t get to send it to KL from Singapore so we had to wait a day for them to arrive. >.< That’s twice in a year now, so we’re starting to think that perhaps Qantas is a little shit… =P

It’s as hot as ever here, but luckily it rained a little just now so things aren’t as uncomfortable as I thought it’d be. I’m pretty much used to the heat now, I think, even though it’s only my second day here. ^_^

Kaiser is still as cute as ever!! =D

Of Banana & Chocolate Chip Muffins…

November 26th, 2007 by soonkhielow

One more week til our flight home! ^_^ Yay for that. I just booked our car in for a Warrant of Fitness check on Thursday afternoon. I still haven’t vacuumed the house, which I had actually planned to do right after I finished my exams, but oh well… XD

My parents gave us a list of stuff they wanted us to bring home and to my annoyance/ dismay/ chagrin, my Dad wants a box of potato chips as well! UGH!!!! Everytime we went home he wanted a couple of boxes. It pissed the crap out of me cuz it’s fricking embarrassing going to the supermarket and asking for boxes of potato chips… >.<

On a brighter note, I made some banana and chocolate chip muffins the other day. It was the first time I used baking paper as the muffin cups and man, did they turn out weird… Oh well, at least they were still edible. ^_^

I’m rewatching Witch Hunter Robin just for fun and also to pick up some bits and pieces I didn’t really understand. The only other anime I’d like to watch now would be the dubbed version of Chobits. The show’s old but I watched the subbed version last time and didn’t finish it because it just got a little boring. The english dub, however, has Crispin Freeman (=D) and since he’s always playing serious characters it was fun listening to him play a crazy guy now. ^_^

There aren’t any new PS2 games these days, which is pretty sad. I’m looking forward to getting a PSP over the holidays though; PSP games have been disappointing as well, but there’re a few which are pretty good, like Metal Gear Solid and Syphon Filter. =D

Of Scones & Boredom…

November 21st, 2007 by soonkhielow

Yes, I’m bored. Still have more than one week to go before our flight home. I’m really looking forward to it (actually, to the food I’ve missed… XD) but on the other hand, I’m not liking the idea of having to work during the holidays… >.< Oh well…

I’ve finally finished watching Witch Hunter Robin; it’s such an awesome series. The storyline wasn’t that bad either, plus that whole pyrokinesis thing with Robin reminds me of the smexy Roy Mustang. I’m a fan of Robin / Amon already even though Amon’s probably like a decade or so older than her… XD I was checking out YouTube for a japanese version of an episode, just to hear how the characters sounded, and Robin’s voice was plain blah. Her english voice is definitely better; Kari Wahlgren did an awesome job with her. ^_^

I made some scones last night. That was pretty random but I was bored… I’m still bored now… =D I try to either clean the house or watch anime or bake or play VGs… It’s getting really hot here too and I took a walk to the post office today to renew our car’s registration and man, was that a bad idea… XD

Well I’ve got enough stuff for banana muffins and a devil chocolate cake (actually out of a box, mwa haha~~) but perhaps I shouldn’t go overboard with all the baking… ^_^

Random fact of the day: I made some chicken cordon bleu for dinner just now; it was hard work but they tasted so much better than the ones we get from the supermarket. No surprise, I guess, considering the amount of cheese and ham I stuffed into them! =D

Of Wolves & Witches…

November 19th, 2007 by soonkhielow

So I haven’t been posting in a while now… ^_^ Finals are over and I’m finally on holiday! This year has definitely been tough work but I’m glad I’m done with the hard part; on a slightly related note, I’ve got to do some industrial training at the end of the year as well. That’s gotta suck. >.<

Now that I’m on holiday, I’ve been watching quite a few animes. My sister and I started watching Wolf’s Rain; she hasn’t finished it since she’s been studying for her exams, but I have, and it’s actually quite a good anime. I’m starting on Witch Hunter Robin now and that seems pretty good too, except that the dubbing can get a little awkward. It’s strange to think how Soon Yie and I used to only watch subbed anime, but nowadays, we prefer the dubbed ones. =D Probably cuz we’ve been exposed to so many awesome english voice actors from video games and stuff… ^_^

I’ve been watching the first season of Ah! My Goddess in english as well. Although I didn’t really have high expectations for the english voices, they turned out not too bad in the end! All the characters were cast quite well even though one of them sounds like a shrieking cat. I tried watching Fate/Stay Night too but after 2 episodes, it was still sort of blah, so I dropped it. There was another new series called Darker Than Black that came out sometime this year; it actually wasn’t that bad too. The animation was really high-quality and the characters were pretty intriguing, plus some of the concepts they used were interesting too. The plot seemed to be the weakest point for me, but maybe that’s just cuz I don’t really get it in the end… XD Looks like I’ll have to wait for the dubbed version!

Soon Yie and I will be leaving for Malaysia on the 4th of December– that’s about 2 weeks away! I’m pretty excited about that since I haven’t been home in close to a year. This time I’ll be home longer than usual cuz I won’t need to follow Soon Yie back here when she starts school earlier, so yay for that! ^_^

Of Ghosts & iPods…

May 24th, 2007 by soonkhielow

2 more weeks of uni til study break and then exams! @_@ I’ve been
swamped with work these past few weeks and it’s so
stressful/tedious/annoying/frustrating/exasperating/annoying/annoying/annoying
it’s not funny! >_<

I’ve ‘managed’ to ’set aside’ some time to watch another anime,
though. =P That’s probably one of the reasons I don’t feel like doing
any work, lol. I started watching Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone
Complex on Veoh cuz I’ve heard lots of nice things about it, etc
etc…. and I actually find it quite interesting! The show used to
scare me cuz I read somewhere that the main character was a lesbian and
I thought they’d be showing ‘those type of things’, but it turned out
that was the manga and the anime’s like a totally different thing.
Plus, after watching quite a few episodes I realised just how similar
The Matrix trilogy was to it! Apparently the writers of TM were
influenced by GiTS, and here I was thinking most of the stuff they had
were original… =P Nyeh…

Best news of the week: my parents are coming this weekend!! ^_^ Even
though we see each other over the webcam every week, I’m really excited
about it cuz they’ll be bringing lots of yummy food and most
importantly, (apart from themselves, of course… XD) my Dad got me a
new iPod Video! I’m pretty stoked about that. He actually got a 30G one
for my Mum cuz he saw her carrying around her CD cases for line
dancing, and then he texted me, saying the price is pretty good and
would I like one? XD At first I declined cuz I already have a Mini, but
after I saw Mum’s on Skype I changed my mind. =P So yay for my Dad for
being so awesome! He ordered a black 80G for me and if things go well
it’ll be well on its way here soon! ^_^

That pretty much cheered me up from my weeks of ******* work and dullness… =)

Of Romeo & Juliet…

May 2nd, 2007 by soonkhielow

First week of uni is almost over! I’ve been lucky enough to only have one lecture yesterday and today so I got home pretty early. I just had an Analytical Chemistry test, though. >_< It was ok… enough said… XD

Someone on the Namco Tales forum was telling us about this new anime called RomeoxJuliet and out of curiosity, I checked it out. One word: awesomeness. ^_^ I’m definitely not a fan of Shakespeare but an anime-version of R&J is just screaming for ppl to watch it! Apparently it started airing in April so that would make it relatively new. They changed a number of things in the show, though. The Capulet family was massacred by the Montagues to gain control over the whole city and Juliet was the sole survivor of the House. Fast foward 14 years later and you’ll probably know what’s gonna happen! It’s a little sad that pretty much everyone knows that they’re both going to die but so far everything looks promising and I can’t wait to watch more. ^_^

Frolicking about in a field of irises… ^_^

I finally finished Xenosaga Episode III, after months of leaving it aside.
I still don’t get the whole story at all but there were some pretty interesting things in there about conspiracies, religion, politics, etc. I reckon the developers were downright bold about some things in the game, at times. There was another fight between KOS-MOS & T-elos (0_0 0_0 0_0); pure awesomeness again and they gave KOS-MOS a fitting farewell…. well, almost. ^_^

Random fact of the day: I’m going to eat a maple pecan strudel… tonight…

Of Goddesses & Cats…

April 18th, 2007 by soonkhielow

Yay for Easter holz! Well… it’s way past Easter already but what the heck… I just felt like writing now. I did absolutely no work the whole of last week (man was that a bad idea… XD) and so it’s really hard for me to get back to my working mood again this week… >_>

The final 2 episodes of season 2 of the Ah! My Goddess anime were finally subbed and uploaded on Youtube, yay. It’s nice to see Peorth back and wreaking havoc. I know lots of ppl simply detest her because of her behaviour and attitude but she’s gotta be my favourite character because she’s just hilarious. ^_^

As the pictures in my profile probably testify, I’ve taken a sudden interest in colouring AMG manga scans on the computer (God bless Adobe Photoshop…). Of course, I’m a complete noob when it comes to anything Photoshop (except perhaps crop and smudge… XD) so my sister helped me out a lot. All in all I’ve been quite pleased with the way some of the pictures turned out so yay for that. ^_^

Random fact of the day: I fed my neighbour’s cats for 2 days. One of them was a bad-tempered cat-bitch and started hissing just as I was spooning food into its bowl. Of all the… >_<

Of Chinese New Year & Salads…

February 18th, 2007 by soonkhielow

Happy Chinese New Year! Hmm, feels kinda weird saying that suddenly. XD This is the first year my parents are celebrating CNY by themselves; usually my brother would be able to join them but turned out he had to return to Dunedin pretty early this year.

Well CNY here is like any other normal day, I guess. =D We had salad for dinner, how [great] is that? Haha, kinda pathetic for a New Year dinner but it was really good. We had a BBQ yesterday and used the leftover meat we had for the salad. Mmm… (Really, it tastes nicer than it sounds…!! ^_^)

I’m currently into the Ouran High School Host Club anime series. It’s really good…! =D My penpal in Sabah actually recommended it to me ages ago but I didn’t start watching it until a couple of weeks ago when I came back. At first I thought it was one of those typical romance, drama thingy but it’s more of a comedy than that. It’s really hilarious!

I’ve got a week before Uni starts. I met up with one of my old highschool friends, Saskia, last Friday. She’s German, though I think she’s been here for quite a while, and surprise surprise, I found out she’s engaged!! 0_0 Her boyfriend is called Sven and apparently he’s training to be a pilot. That’s pretty cool eh. ^_^

Random statement of the day: I cleaned my precious baby PS2 today for the first time in… 3 years? 2 years? Oh well…

Of Nose Bleeds & Lost Baggage…

February 8th, 2007 by soonkhielow

I’m finally back in NZ after a long, tiring and quite horrible flight. We had to fly from KL to Singapore, then Sydney, and then finally Christchurch, and this was the first time we flew with Qantas (Aussie airline…). Our flight from Singapore to Sydney was actually on British Airways since apparently, they’re co-sharing with Qantas or something like that. It was pretty much the worst flight we’ve taken– the food was yuck and to make things worse, when we arrived in Christchurch I started getting a nose bleed (can’t remember the last time I had one of those… probably back when I was in the outdoor band in Puteri? =P).

When we went to the baggage claim, we couldn’t find our luggage at all and it turned out that they were probably left behind in Sydney or something (Damn you Qantas?!?!). I guess the only good thing that came out of that was we had a perfect excuse not to unpack immediately. Anyway, Soon Yie and I took a good long sleep when we got back (Our flattie, Margaret, looked well and she did an awesome job keeping the house spotless!). Luckily, we just had to wait about a day for our baggage; the airport sent them to us just a couple of hours ago. Good thing they did that cuz I really wasn’t in the mood to drive all the way out there!

Summer here is surprisingly cool at night. Maybe I just forgot how it was in the past years; I have quite a terrible memory after all. I’m already missing lazing around the S’ban home, having mum and dad in the house and hanging out with ol’ Christine. =D Hopefully the year will fly by! Laterz.

Of Valkyries & Holidays

January 19th, 2007 by soonkhielow

It’s hard to believe I’ve only got about 2 more weeks here in Malaysia! When my sister and I came back, I thought time was moving pretty slowly but I guess things really start to pick up after a while eh.

Hemaa’s back from Indonesia for 10 days and Christine and I met her just now. It was great to see her again. Good thing we live so near each other– meeting up shouldn’t be a problem, hopefully!!

I’ve finished Tales Of The Abyss and am playing it for the third time now. XD Awesome game, though the graphics are quite yuck at times, but the gameplay makes up for it. I’m currently playing Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria; great game as well. The 3 valkyries are so cool. XD I’m at the end of the game already and was battling the final boss, and when he had like less than 1% of health left, he cast some kick-ass magic and killed off my characters. I wanted to scream but my brother had some friends over and they were watching so I didn’t… XD

Nothing much happening these days… =D
